It's my party and I'll run if I want to

April 15, 2010

Remember way back in January when I announced I was running a half-marathon on my birthday? Back when the looming deadline of April 17th was just far off impending doom?

Now it’s just doom. Happening-in-less-than-48-hours doom. May-not-live-to-see-the-rest-of-my-24th-birthday doom. Why-in-the-world-am-I-doing-this doom.

And in these moments of freaking out, which I am apparently all about lately, I ask God for a healthy dose of perspective. And he swoops in and reminds me of many things, not the least of which is an excellent article in this month’s Runner’s World about running with gratitude.

And also, that running is just walking…only faster.
