Truth be told: this pains me a bit. A bit more than a bit. This blog is probably still my all-time favorite, even though I haven’t posted here in months. For whatever reason, I feel the most comfortable here. When I was writing here daily I felt like I was free to write about anything and everything. And I loved that! It’s something that I’m going to try to get back in the habit of over at my new website,

Over there, you’ll find the one-stop-shop I’ve been desperate for so I don’t have to direct people to an endless sea of websites. Here’s a quick tour of the pages you’ll find over there:

blogger : My main blog (Beka Stays) with a new name (A Beautiful Home)

writer : A writing portfolio

photographer : An I’m-indecisive-so-I-hope-you-have-time-to-look-at-200-pictures-or-so photography portfolio

creative : A list of other creative places where you can find me

food enthusiast : A short romance novel about food and a list of favorite recipes

football fanatic : A new blog about the basics of football for normal girls (!!!)

faith-filled risk-taking life-lover : An About page that reads like a Life Thesis

let’s talk : A contact form to get the conversation started.

I’m still going to keep this blog published because I come back here all the time to read old posts. (Really…I love this blog.) But from now on, all posting/pictures/portfolios will be at

I hope to see you there!

staying creative : february

March 27, 2012

Oh hey…since it’s almost April I thought it was the perfect time to share the once-a-week-hey-I-still-love-photography photos for February.

Better late than never, right?

Here we go!

family sessions : the ciccones

March 17, 2012

(This is the first of many upcoming family sessions! Thanks to all of the amazing people who have made 2012 so photographically fun so far!)

I’m lucky enough to spend 3 days a week with this wonderful family as their part-time nanny. So it made me even happier than normal to see them – this time on a weekend day to snap these pictures on one of the only cold and snowy days we had this winter!

Seriously…I’m so lucky. Beyond blessed.

Today my friend Carolyn is moving to Denver. I’m tempted to wail about all of the reasons why this change of location saddens me, but let’s focus on the positive:

1. Carolyn gets to move to Denver. And we all know how I feel about Denver.
2. I’ll get to go visit Carolyn in Denver. And we all know I feel about Denver.
3. I got to take these fun pictures of Carolyn for her new blog, hello sunshine. She’ll (soon) be documenting her adventures in the Mile High City, and I’m sure they will be amazing. I think you should follow along!

Carolyn, I’m so sad to see you go, but so happy to watch you start an exciting new chapter in life. Go take Denver by storm!

staying creative : january

March 3, 2012

Oh my poor photography blog. So neglected!

I’ve been kind of busy with my other blogs, what with all of the staying and the thriving, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been loving photography, too! In fact, I’ve been loving it more than I have in a long time.

As part of the staying creative initiative I started taking one new picture a week. Now it may seem lame to borrow fodder from one blog to pad another, but hey, that’s what I’m doing. And plus I really like these pictures and thought you guys might like them too.

Here are January’s shots – stayed tuned for February’s and a few upcoming family sessions!
